- A major snub from this year was Amy Adams in Arrival.
- There was no major snub, the nominations were the deserving five.
- A snub was Emily Blunt for A Quiet Place, she had been nominated at most of the other award shows.
- There were two major snubs, Awkwafina for The Farewell, and Jennifer Lopez for Hustlers.
- The major snub was Zendaya for Malcom and Marie.
My favorite of the nominations is Carey Mulligan. She was nominated in 2021 for Promising Young Women. Mulligan plays Cassie, a college drop out that is trying to get revenge on the typical "nice guy". Everynight Cassie goes out and tries to show people they are not as great as they think they are. After rekindling a relationship with someone from her old school, she decides to get revenge on the boys and girls that destory not only her life, but the life of her best friend Nina. Mulligan did a almost perfect job playing Cassie, a very flawed character. She makes you root for her evern when her actions may seem extreme. The Oscar did not go to her, but it was still nice to see reconition for a genre role. (A genre role is a movie that has a genre like horror, thriller, fanisty that is usually overlooked by the Acedemy) The movie was my favorite of the year and i was glad to see her get the nomination.
